In the new era of technology, digital technology is referred to as one of the most widely used a phrase that helps to drive a business towards massive commercial success. In addition to commercial success it also helps to obtain competitive advantages from the marketplace. In order to transform the business activity in terms of business operation it is the necessary for the owners to adopt accurate digital technology. For carrying out a project, the Chief Operating Officer is responsible to choose the most suitable digital technology for their business.

The aim of the project is to incorporate cloud computing technology to the business of XYZ Company for driving its operation towards massive commercial success. Cloud technology provides a huge and secured storage to the company with a disaster recovery and backup feature. Cloud storage can be easily accessed due to its user friendly nature.

XYZ Company has a manual data management system where the chance of man-made error occurrence was very high. This approach was time consuming and inefficient as well. In order to transfer the traditional rather manual data management system to cloud technology based storage, total cost that has been estimated in $25,000.00.

The scopes of this project are as follows:

  • To define and analyze the current status of the company in terms of business operation
  • To incorporate cloud computing technology in XYZ company for improving their operational and functional activities
  • To shape the workplace environment in such a way so that it can minimize the issues of traditional data management

Considering the background of the existing business operation of XYZ Company it has been found that in order to implement cloud computing technology to its business operation, 8 months are required. Thus, it can be said that aim of XYZ Company is to implement cloud computing technology within 8 months within the estimated budget of $25,000.00.

It is expected that the quality of both the products and services served by XYZ Company will improve a lot with the implementation of cloud computing technology. Among the three different cloud computing architectures such as IaaS, PaaS and SaaS XYZ should adopt IaaS platform for performing all necessary business activities.

In order to avoid inter organizational and intra organizational conflict the project manager is responsible to maintain proper communication approach to ensure that, all the project team members are sharing their creative ideas about the cloud computing technology implementation along with the rest of the project team members. There are three different types of project communication approaches available such as open communication, upward and down communication those are widely followed. For each of the project activities different project team members are responsible.

Challenges to Implementing Cloud Computing Technology

Among three of these communication approaches the project manager should adopt open communication. Open communication helps the project manager and rest of the project team members to share their view points with others.

While implementing cloud computing technology in XYZ Company, there are certain challenges those may interrupt the success of the company eventually.  The list of risks those are needed to be avoided by the project manager for successfully implementing cloud computing technology in the business. All of the above mentioned resources are internal human resources associated to the Company whereas; another important resource of the XYZ Company is the Cloud service providers. There are many active providers are available however, based on the operational background they should choose the most suitable external resource to gain commercial revenue and competitive advantages as well.
