- BT Connor Reserve
The BT Connor Reserve, even though is a single sports facility reserve, however, has four playing fields, namely, BT Connor 3 (Main reserve amongst all four, located on the West); BT Connor 1 (located on the East); BT Connor 2 (located centrally); BT Connor 4 (located on the North) (AUSTADIUMS, 2018). The BT Connor Reserve, which is a District level sporting facility, is situated at Cnr Radford Rd & Broadhurst Ave Reservoir. It is the home to the Victorian Premier League club, Preston Lions. As such, it is also known as the Lion Stadium or the Genis Steel Stadium (Revolvy, 2018). There is a primary grandstand in the stadium along with undercover seating space for approximately 800 people. The temporary buildings have been utilized in constructing corporate facilities. The estimated capacity of the stadium is around 8,000 (1,000 seats) which is provided by the grass bank which surrounds the ground (AUSTADIUMS, 2018). On the outer side of the ground, a media box has been installed. Until 2005, a TV camera scaffold tower was places next to the ground. There have been numerous requests by the club for putting up lights at the stadium. However, the local council has been rejecting the requests because of sacred sights occurring behind the ground.
- Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre (NARC)
Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre is owned and operated by the City of Darebin, and is situated at Victoria Road, Northcote. YMCA Victoria manages the centre. There are a wide variety of facilities available for people of all levels of fitness and ages. The highlights of NARC include three large outdoor pools, a health club with good equipment, massage and physio session facilities, café (24-seating), cycle studio, indoor pool, play area, classes for group fitness, child care centre (NARC, 2018). The NARC is very well equipped for catering to people with all abilities which includes access of ramp to the group fitness hall and the centre as well. The accessibilities that can be availed by the people are car spaces, beach entry for entrance into warm water pool, lift availability for accessing group fitness room, changing room, access to all pools, change bed with changing rooms.
- P. Hardiman Reserve
The KP Hardiman Reserve located is located at 859 Plenty Road, Kingsbury, 19 C6. The available transports for reaching the venue are trams and buses (City of DAREBIN., 2013a). It is a district level sporting facility accessible to the common people. Parking facility is available for people at the Northern end of the reserve. A field for hockey and football is available within the reserve. Merri Park is located on St Georges Road, Northcote. It is situated 50 meters away from the tram stop of St Georges road (City of DAREBIN., 2013b). Buses can be taken for accessing the park. Facility of on street residential parking is available to visitors. At the corner of the Sumner Street and St Georges Road, club rooms and a baseball field are available. The general public can use the open sports field. The sports are also used by the Northcote High School during sports events and usual school hours as well. The ground council and staff can be contacted on their given details regarding ground usage. An additional adventure playground is available along with many climbing sections that include swings, slides and sandpits for children aged 3-15 years. Picnic and BBQ facilities are also available. Small picnic tables and chairs are available for the same. On the edge of the playground, a small shelter is available, additionally, hygienic public toilets and drinking water are also available. The park allows entry for pets like cats and dogs. The Merri Park also has conservation areas such as remnant habitats, bird watch towers, pathways and trails, rest areas, etc. (City of DAREBIN., 2013b). These areas of conservation are fenced off and not openly accessibly for the common public.
