- Why do you want to work for us?
As an experienced Marketing manager and brand manager I think the job responsibilities are a perfect fit for me, also working for such reputed company gives me a bigger platform to excel and broaden my knowledge in this field. I will be facing newer and bigger challenges which is where I can excel even further and come up with innovative strategies to overcome the challenges (Rothaermel 2015; Wheelen et al. 2017)).Furthermore my analytic skills will ensure the company’s goals to be reached within the definite deadline (Hill et al. 2014). My comfort working as a team and utilizing my creative mind has always been an advantage throughout my educational and working career. I am willing to adapt to any harsh situation work round the clock in order to reach the said goal. I like to observe and assess different challenges and come up with innovative strategies (Fleisher and Bensoussan 2015; Hill 2017)).
Skills Utilized for the job
I share the common motto with the company – that is to achieve what seems difficult and to be the best and I believe with my skills and your reputed platform I can reach that goal with ease. I believe that working in this company I can positively add to its performance and achieve more success and also support my own professional growth (Crews 2018).
- Tell us about a time you worked in a group to achieve an objective (what did you do and what was the outcome?)
While working as the marketing head at K&F Retail, I had to develop strategies to increase the market reach and brand awareness of the company. The aim was to increase the sales of a new line of products (Villeneuve and Pasquier 2017). To achieve the goal, I had to lead the marketing team and work in tandem with the operations and accounts divisions. My team was responsible for handling the promotions and overall marketing of the product. My approach to achieve the best results was to utilise both online as well as offline strategies to promote the brand (Tomczak et al. 2018). I had the social media marketing executives work on different social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for the online campaigns and used newspapers and television channels for the mass media marketing. Moreover, I also developed tie ups with different live shows through endorsements and sponsors where the products can be marketed to the crowd. I also came up with the idea of giving discount coupons on hand-outs and flyers to attract more customers to the store (Gummesson 2017). At the end of the three month campaign, I was able to increase the sales of the new product line by 67.5%.
- Tell us about a time when you identified a new approach to solve a problem. (What did you do and what was the outcome?)
When I joined K & F Retail, the sales performance of the company was at its lowers in the last 5 years. Many of the older product lines rapidly lost its sales and customers soon lost interest on several products of the company. Moreover, with an increase in the production costs, the prices of the products also increased driving away more customers (Lund and Greyser 2017). To overcome this problem, I implemented the strategy of frugal and incremental innovation to develop a new product through the elimination of unnecessary costs in the production process. To do this I had to first take feedbacks from the customers about how they felt of the existing product lines and then develop an understanding of the client/customer needs and expectations, incorporating them to the design of the new product (Marshall 2014; Nishikawa et al. 2017)). Working with the manufacturing division, I was able to get the new product design to fruition. The result of the approach was the development of a new product line that was widely liked by the customers, had cheaper production costs and that helped to increase the gross profits of the company by 24%. I also received rewards for my outstanding contribution to the company.
- Tell us about a time when you had to manage a number of different priorities and complete a number of tasks in a short amount of time (what did you do and what was the outcome?)
Marketing qualities and key skills
After I started with the internshipat ViT Technologies as a marketing Coordinator, I had to simultaneously plan the online marketing activities, conduct research on various web portals, attend client meetings to discuss the product specifications and standards, assess the current delivery strategies to identify any scope of improvement, gather feedbacks on the products from surveys and feedbacks, maintain spreadsheets with financial and non-financial data and regularly discussing the work with the supervisors. Initially I found it to be very challenging to manage all these activities regularly, however, with to optimise my time, I started to schedule every activity on a timely manner, and strategically plan out the activities based on their priority and flow of information. Prioritising the tasks helped me to attend to the most important activities first while scheduling the time helped me to keep track of the pace of the work and minimise time waste (Goetsch and Davis 2014; Comodi et al. 2015)).Moreover, I also developed my efficiency through constant practice, which helped me to be fast at my work, and allowed me to multi-task thereby further optimising my use of time (Janeslätt et al. 2018).These strategies helped me to complete all the responsibilities delegated to me on time.
- Tell us about a project you worked on that required you to persuade others to your point of view (what did you do and what was the outcome?)
Working with K & F Retail as marketing head, my first project was to develop strategies that can help them to develop their brand awareness and market reach. Their sales have been declining for the last five years, and have reached an all-time low.The company previously never used promotional events and online campaigns for their products and relied only on television and newspapers for the brand promotions. However, my strategy involved using various events as the platform for the promotion of brands (Chaudhary et al. 2016; Ulanat and Jacob 2017). This involved sponsoring a part of the event costs or endorsements on the ticket sales. However since this involved an expenditure of cash, I was challenging initially to convince the directors on this strategy. However, though thorough market research and analysis, I was able to develop a market forecast and projection of expected sales increase along with the analysis of the breakeven point (Dretsch and Kirmani 2014). Moreover, I also supported the research with performances of other similar companies using the same strategies thereby further validating my point. I developed informative presentationsusing charts and diagrams and presented in a meeting with the directors. Along with the assistance of the accounts head, I was able to get the project approved (Posner et al. 2015).

The interview practice provided me with an important opportunity to prepare myself for interviews.
- The sessions helped me to fully comprehend how the interview is conducted and the overall flow of the process. It also helped me develop strategies to prepare myself for different interview rounds and thus helped me gain confidence.
- I learnt the effective way of introducing myself and providing an overview of my professional practice. After introducing myself, I also learnt how to highlight my fit within the organization and the qualities that can make me desirable for the job position. Discussing my key strengths was an important approach towards that strategy.
- I learnt how to use self-reflection strategies to develop a clear understanding of myself, which was crucial for my preparation for interviews. The practice sessions helped me to put the strategies to practice, and further helped me to develop my confidence.
- It also helped me come up with counter arguments for difficult situations in the interview and also come up with creative as sometimes humorous thoughts and ideas that can help me to gain the confidence of the interviewer.
- I feel confident that the sessions helped me to improve my chances of succeeding in the interviews (Brinkmann 2014).
The assessment centre practice helped me to develop my understanding about my professional career and my professional trajectory and thereby develop professional goals and milestones for my career.
- I learnt that it is important to have a strong knowledge of oneself during the interview, including the strengths and weaknesses and the ability to show creativity and originality of thought cab help to gain attention of the interviewer.
- It is also vital to be able to understand how to utilise the strengths to be best advantages. The sessions were vital to understand best strategies to present myself and my views, helped me understand the significance of nonverbal and gestural language and how to use them to develop a positive impression.
- Identifying my weaknesses also provided me the opportunity to work around them, overcome them or turn them into strengths. Learning the most effective behaviour was significant in helping me to learn how to present myself more effectively and how to answer questions during the interview.
- The sessions helped me realise the need for a prior research on the employer’s company, through which the expectations of the recruiters can be understood, this could help to highlight my fitness for the position (Brinkmann 2014).
