Boeing: Collaboration And Unified Communications – Improving Communication And Innovation
Communication Challenges at Boeing
The preservation of security of the potentially valuable information may lead to huge ramifications to the company. The leakage of data leads to the organization failure and loss of market which further leads to immense loss of revenue. Thus, maintenance of the security of data is of utmost importance for almost all organizations (Kennedy, 2015). The company should create a demarcation and enforcement point for the UC network as they provide demarcation between different zones comprising of varying zones such as those of public and private networks. Moreover, the encryption of the end point communications would facilitate the prevention of impersonation and eavesdropping while transmitting information in the public network. In addition to this, Boeing Company should also make provisions for hiding the network topology by UC demarcation as it provides Network Address Translation at each protocol level (Mao, 2017). Furthermore, the company may also encounter Denial of Service attack through which the attackers impair the communication structure maintain proper communication without disturbing services and critical applications.
Boeing experienced immense benefits by deploying UC capabilities over the IP networks. The system was utilized for the sharing of expertise and knowledge by the engineers as it facilitates real time knowledge sharing. It enables the employees of the virtual teams that are dispersed from the home offices to adjust the interaction to a more understandable communication mode. Furthermore, it also enhances the capability of the company to deal with the critical real time problems and provide solutions. Moreover, the deployment also incorporates increase in productivity as well as in efficiency of the employees not only at individual level but also at a team level. Moreover, the annual cost of audio conferencing also showed a decrease in the annual cost by the implementation of the UC capabilities. The decrement in the cost also increases the capital of the organization leading to the gain of profits (Rand, 2017). It also enhances the real time interactions and easy collaboration is possible all the employees utilize the same system. Moreover, with the enhanced productivity of the employees the overall performance of the team enhances that lead to the increase in benefits to the organizations.
The Unified Communication enables non real time communication through the utilization of the voice email system. It also posses the capability to prioritize the messages and consider the high priority messages first. Moreover, it also supports mixed communications in which all the connected employees do not need to utilize the similar device and the session could run smoothly through the utilization of different types of devices (Smyth, Dal Bello & O’gorman, 2015). It also enables the mobile workers to seamlessly perform the work while shifting locations. Hence, with the support of mixed communications sharing of ideas can take place not only during scheduled meeting but also during the conversation.
