Reasons For Selecting The Particular Method Of Survey Administration, Advantages And Disadvantages
Overview of the unit of study
The key purpose of choosing quantitative technique in the survey supervision is to obtain the opinion of research candidates towards the research matter. In this research, open-ended and closes ended questionnaire techniques were practiced by the researcher to obtain reactions of research candidates about conspicuous shopping. Moreover, I classified the questionnaire in three parts. Through this method, the initial chapter was associated with the data towards research candidate like places where they want to purchase goods and services (Wildemuth, 2016). This tool is effective for increasing the knowledge of candidates to make consumers purchasing decision. I gained my existing knowledge in the context of demographic information. The survey through questionnaire assists to comprehend that personal information of research participants as it could be associated with a physical address, religion, name, race, age, phone number, and gender. But, at the same time, it is also observed that the survey through questionnaire has some limitation. Moreover, the researcher ignores general information of research if the specified concern is relied on getting the depth information of the research matter. The data that is created from this tool is likely to entail inadequate information about the research matter. This tool also saves the higher responses rate of specified observation (Marczyk, DeMatteo, and Festinger, 2017). But, at the same time, it is also analyzed that the survey could be complex as compared to another method if it is conducted through face to face method.
I used the administration process that was effective to obtain the data with respect to the research matter from the selected research candidates. During this survey, I observed that some of the research candidates were confused about the research questions. Apart from this, I also observed that some research candidates were skipped many research questions about their confidential information due to lack of security feeling (Žiki?, 2016). The research participants do not feel secure to share their personal id, mobile number, and address. Moreover, this survey method was taken a longer period e.g. 1 hour 30 minutes for the research candidates for completing this questionnaire.
I would recommend that organization should increase the number of emails that would be opened and received by the research candidates as it would be effective for increasing survey response rate. It is also observed that the online survey techniques more time for accomplishing the work but it is effective for spreading the information into the spreadsheet to conduct the further assessment. Further, it is also examined that the questionnaire considers many factors like personal information of research candidates, time, and cost. I also observed the online survey is more profitable as compared to the other method. I also recommend that the research candidates could make the layout of the survey through questionnaire before completing the task (King and Mackey, 2016). The questionnaire the research could be well structured and could be well- clear. The application of the capital letter could be eliminated from this survey as it would make easy the whole survey. The questions could be numbers and grouped. Moreover, the researcher should offer headings and making the easier questionnaire. It can also be suggested that investigator use piloting tool to conduct their research matter. This tool could be effective for obtaining the reliable result in limited time and cost. This technique also facilitates me to determine whether the research candidates understand the research questions and research guidelines. It also facilitates to comprehend whether the research candidates comprehend similarities of the questions. It also facilitates the researcher to comprehend whether we need to use closed questions. It also supports to concentrates on the whether adequate responses are obtainable and whether any questions are skipped by the research candidates (Hickson, 2016).
Learning outcomes
I will make some modification in the questionnaire before operating it into the larger groups. I will also review the questionnaire to examine their efficiency and their benefits for both consumers as well as investigators. I will eliminate or remove those questions that are irrelevant and not related to the aim and objectives of the research objectives It will be effective for the accomplishment of the research objectives (Denzin, 2017). It will address that the survey through questionnaire should be less time taking for eliminating the boredom from the survey.
In this chapter, an investigator has initiated the respondents about the objective of the investigation. I have also improved my comprehension about the instruction of questionnaire. In such case, I have increased my experience that an investigator should provide advice to participants for clarification, detail of contact as well as adjustment of completion time. Through the first section, I have increased my learning that an investigator asked with respondents about the places they usually purchase and the last time they shop and the exclusive product they shop last and drive behind buying it. I have generated my awareness that an investigator asked with respondents about the conspicuous consumption concern and their opinion regarding it. Through the second section, I have created my understanding about the Likert scale. In such way, it is observed that the Likert scale includes one to five alternatives such as from strongly agree to strongly disagree. From the last section of the questionnaire, I have created my understanding that an investigator should ask for respondents about demographic information like race, age, and gender. This learning was effective for me to develop the significant questionnaire in the upcoming time period (Tricco, et al., 2016).
After piloting the survey questionnaire, certain questions were removed and certain were rephrased with clearness. It is discussed as follow:
Changes to question 8:
Wording:
Pilot: I am a well-known celebrity. How can I go buying for low-quality brand.?
Final: Which kinds of channels would be used by well-known celebrity buying for low
Remove questions from the survey
- Remove questions 4 and 8 from these parts due to vagueness
- Remove 11 and 7 from section 2 as it was almost homogenous with other questions and may create boredom for respondents
- Remove race, religious, physical address and phone number associated with demographic questions that could feel doubtful to respondents
